#1 Hiking In Sai Kung Peninsula

I always surprise people when I tell them about the incredible hiking and beaches available around Hong Kong. Sai Kung is a peninsula about an hour northeast of Hong Kong Island and offers incredible hiking, beaches, and restaurants. If you have more than a couple days in Hong Kong, this is a true hidden treasure!

#2 Victoria Peak

Victoria Peak will give visitors incredible panoramic views of Hong Kong and its mesmerizing skyline. Located on Hong Kong island, this peak is one of Hong Kong's most popular destinations. You will not find solitude here but the impressive vantage point of the bustling city of Hong Kong is definitely worth it. Victoria's Peak is very commercialized, offering a bus to and from the top, a shopping mall for visitors, and a popular cable car to go up and down the peak. If you are coming to Hong Kong, a stop to Victoria's Peak needs to be on your list.

#3 Stanley Market and Beach

Stanley Market is a great market to get some shopping done and then relax on the beach. Located on the south side of Hong Kong Island, Stanley feels a lot less like the bustling metropolis of Hong Kong and more like an oceanside town you'd find on the shores of the Caribbean. The market has tons of different opportunities to find souvenirs. I found incredible pieces of art here and bought my own chopstick set! Prices are a little higher than at the Temple Street Market, with less bartering. The beach gets pretty crowded, but is still a nice opportunity to put the swimsuit on and catch some rays. This market is open during the day, from 10AM-6PM.

#4 Temple Street Market

Temple Street Market is Hong Kong's best night market. Located on the Kowloon side, Temple Street Night Market offers visitors a chance to barter on souvenirs and all other sorts of consumer goods like watches, electronics, and clothing. Also along this market you will find plenty of restaurant stalls where you can grab a bite to eat after a long walk of shopping.

#5 Big Buddha on Lantau Island

Lantau Island is directly west of Hong Kong and can be accessed either by boat or the Mass Transit Railway (MTR). Seeing the spectacular Big Buddha on Lantau Island is a great day trip from Hong Kong. This enormous bronze statue definitely needs to be on your Hong Kong To Do List. Add a hike to Lantau Peak to your itinerary!

#6 Star Ferry from Central to Tsim Sha Tsui

Hong Kong has a stunning skyline that is a real spectacle, especially at night. One of the most fun ways to view the skyline is from the ferry that crosses between the Kowloon side and Hong Kong Island. Hop on the Star Ferry at either the Tsim Sha Tsui stop on the Kowloon side or the Central Ferry stop on Hong Kong Island. It is a very cheap ride, and along the way you get a fantastic perspective of the Hong Kong skyline. There were nights where I would buy a ticket on, and not get off until I took several round trips because the ride itself is less than ten minutes long.
